Increase Sales With These Shopping Titles
Sep 19, 2022If you are not getting success with Google Shopping it is probably because you have not set your Product Titles correctly.
The reason for why your Product titles in Google Shopping campaigns are so important is because this is one of the main sources that Google uses to decide which keywords you want your ads to target.
Unlike with Search campaigns where you enter in which keywords you want your ads to target with Shopping campaigns Google uses your product data to select the most relevant search terms to target your ads.
To be clear the product data that Google uses is your:
- Product Title
- Product Description
In this video I am going to break down exactly what you need to include in your product titles and the product title formulas I use to increase sales.
With your Google Shopping product titles you have a maximum of 150 characters that you can use BUT you need to put all of the most relevant information at the start of your product title.
Because the user will not see all 150 of these characters, in fact the user may only see the first 20 characters.
When your ads appear in the shopping feed above the search results on a desktop or mobile the user will only likely only see the first 20 characters.
While if they are in the shopping feed they will see up to 40 characters
Then if they scroll down in the shopping feed they will start to see more of the characters.
Even though the user may only see the first 20 characters it is very important that you still use all of the 150 characters because these extra characters which may not be seen by the user give Google extra information so that they can better target your ads.
So with your product titles you should always include:
- Your product name
- Brand Name
- Keyword targeting
- Product Modifiers: like your size, colour or materials
In all cases avoid wasting those precious characters on gimmicky product slogans that no one will search or promotional offers & sales.
So as promised at the start of the video here is the product title formula that you should be using:
Product Name + Brand + keyword targeting + product modifiers
One thing to point out is that in most cases your product name will also double as your keyword targeting so you can just use:
Product Name + Brand + product modifiers
The reason for why this structure is the best to use for your store is because by placing your product name at the start of the product title you are ensuring that user will see your product name even if they only see the first 20 characters.
Then by including the product modifiers at the end of the product title you are giving Google extra information to help with your keyword targeting while not ruining the user experience.
